4 days before the Auction and more items

This window box was donated by the Kountry Junkers in Chippewa Falls, WI

Two outdoor items my uncle made the chairs, we
just did the painting of them. The Chaise just needed a little cleaning and a new cushion with pillow.

This magazine table has been around awhile, used at college by a neice and then in her apartment and traveled to Las Vegas until she moved into her new home in May and then it returned to MN. It was chippy beige woodtone and has been repainted and some placemats cut and adhered to the surface for a texture.

Will have to take an additional picture of this one in better light. We received a very large table a couple of years ago for the auction but did not have time to work with it until last years auction when the top and leaves to the table became a deacons bench. The base was still remaining so part of it was placed on the bottom of plywood and painted black, mattress places on top and a fitted cover & pillow.

Projects for the Auction

This is one that I did myself. We are having the trim on our 1869 home repaired and repainted. This little piece looked like it could be a Halloween witch. So, I placed it in a old box to be filled with fall pumpkins, Indian corn or flowers, I brushed on a little black paint to emphasis the pointed hat and body, then I took some old typewriter keys to add the buttons down the front that are the date of the house 1869.

This is a childs table and chairs. The table has a game board on top and the two chairs--one says Bobby the other Sally

6th Annual Trash to Treasure Charity Auction

Come join us for the fun at the
6th annual Trash to Treasure Charity Auction
and Wine Tasting Event

It is an event where we repurpose junk for the 'Pink' cause of breast cancer.

It is held on Friday, August 28
at the Victorian Lace
in St. Charles, MN

It is amazing what amount of monies can be raised from 'junk' for a good cause.
Last year we raised almost $6000. We start early as some or most of the junk that we pick up curbside in St. Charles during citywide cleanup day is repurposed and donated to the event.
We are in need of YOUR help too. We hope that you or someone else would repurpose an item or two of 'junk' and donated to the auction. The challenge is on as my sisters and I last year donated almost 40 repurposed items to the auction. We would like to see who else can come close to that even, it that is only 5!!

If you have an item but lack inspiration give us a call or stop by. We are usually working on projects Friday, Saturday and Sunday here at my place (the Victorian Lace)

Check out a couple of websites for ideas like: http://www.junkcamp.com/ or http://www.junkrevolution.com/

Vintage Treasures Market a Success!

Saturday was a very busy day. We will probably have to go junking before Junk Bonanza in September as our inventory is now very low.
Group photo taken after Ki came to visit.
It is always a delight to talk with her and of course, her husband Kerry too. They had a busy day planned and it was nice that they were able to make time to stop here too.

Tents are ready for Vintage Treasures Market

The tents arrived about noon today and we worked at getting them marked off for spaces for the vendors and then the weather changed on us about 6:30 PM and the tent people came about 8 PM and dropped all the sides for us because of possible bad weather. Well, the weather went around us so hopefully we will be ready to put the sides up and begin setting up tomorrow. I hope the weather holds for the weekend.

More work on getting ready for Vintage Treasures Market

This is Frannie among the items we are setting up in our retro section on the front porch. She was digging through a box for fabric and guess what she found! So.... she just had to put it on.

After working for several hours painting, arranging and hauling from one location to another
This is where we really wish we were all sitting.
Luckly this is in my front garden and we can at least look at it from time to time

Wine Bottle Fountain

Sister #2 Frannie had a birthday and this was made as a gift for her. The nail keg is one that I did for a college project back in 1969!!! It was made into a stool with storage back then--we have gotten a little more creative since then. Well, we drink wine now too. Keg holds plastic container for water and pump -- black metal tray with bottles, the bottles standing are glued to tray the one laying down has a hole for tube to feed water up. The container at the bottom is filled with small rocks first and then topped off with wine corks. There is another tube running back into the keg so the water recycles

Junk {re}defined Market

The Pfarkel sisters are getting ready for our spring market on Fri - Sat, May 8 & 9 from 10 to 5 at the Victorian Lace in St. Charles, MN. It is like spring cleaning with a little bit of a twist. We also will be having City-wide garage sales and city-wide cleanup day on the same weekend, which means we will be running in all directions. Our junk market sale will be in the house while the neices will be taking care of the garage sale at the garage and driveway and we will still have to make it around town to see what everyone else is throwing away curbside. Curbside is where we get our best things.

First is our spring open house for Junk {re}defined on May 8 & 9, 2009 from 9 to 5
located at 1512 Whitewater Ave., St. Charles, MN.; inside the Victorian Lace Inn. We are then open occasional Friday & Saturdays during the summer.

The Pfarkel Sisters along with Marge of Emma's Nook and Granny are planning for a market event here in St. Charles at the Winona County Fair Grounds.
Vintage Treasures Market
